24/12/10 - Merry Christmas & A Rockin' New Year!

 

Just to wish you a very Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year. Make sure you eat more food than normal, drink more than is healthy but mostly have lots of fun with your families/friends where ever you spend it.

02/12/10 - Kane announce 3rd night at Ahoy, Rotterdam!

 

Due to massive sellout in just one day for the 1st date, a sell out in a few days on the 2nd date well Kane have decided 3rd time lucky and gone for a 3rd date. This will be 21st April 2011 and tickets go on general sale 4th December at 9am UK time from here.

 

I've already said if you are making the trip over then doing the 2 gigs seemed very logical but doing all 3? Well you know it makes sense to get 3 shows, around 2 1/2 hours each one on 3 consecutive nights. See you there?

 

 

25/11/10 - Kane announce 2nd night at Ahoy, Rotterdam

 

Due to massive sellout in just one day, Kane will be doing a 2nd date at Ahoy 22nd April 2011. Tickets go on general sale 27th November at 9am UK time from here.

 

If you're going to make a trip over then you may as well make it for the 2 nights and have 2 spectacular shows for the price of one trip.

12/11/10 - Kane to play singles only at Ahoy, Rotterdam

 

Due to the huge success of 3 sold out nights in Paradiso in 2009, Kane will be playing all their singles to date at the famous Ahoy 23rd April 2011. Tickets go on general sale 20th November at 9am UK time from here.

 

It promises to be a spectacular evening with a setlist that wil take over 2 1/2 hours to complete. If you're not there you are defnitely going to miss out!

 

 

02/10/10 - Vote for Kane in the Edison Awards 2010

 

Kane still need your vote to help them win 2 of the nominations they are have been put in to at the Edison Awards in Holland. These are big deal awards in their country and we can still help by voting with every email address we have! 25/09/10 - No Surrender - Big2 Remix on itunes now!

 

The newly remix of No Surrender was released yesterday on itunes and already is in the top 10 of the charts. Unfortunately you can only download it if you live in Holland or have 2 accounts with itunes. If you are in a position where you can download it then head over to this link and download now and help get it all the way to the top.

19/09/10 - Scream Video competition Winners House Gig!

 

One of the 3 people that was a winner of the Scream video competition is a sweet friend that invited me to part of her dream come true of Kane playing in her lounge. I am struggling to put the whole event into words but promise to have a review up tonight/tomorrow using the best words I can find to describe it. 11/09/10 - No Surrender Platinum Edition Available Worldwide!

Today it was announced that Kane have been nominated for 3 awards for the Edison's 2010. Best single (No Surrender), Best Album (No Surrender) and Best Group. You can help and support them to achieve these well deservered awards by voting here for them.

 

 

 

25/08/10 - Scream Video Winner!

 

From 100 entries Dinand & Dennis had to get it down to one winner and today on Dutch TMF the winner was announced. Congratulations to Kaylee, Dennis & Alwin for putting together an excellent video that tells a great story. These lucky people will be getting their own private concert in one of their homes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

25/08/10 - No Surrender Platinum Edition release

 

To co-incide with 'No surrender' going platinum, Kane will be releasing a 5 track acoustic EP. This will be released in NL 24th September. The Platinum Edition list will be No Surrender, Love Over Healing, In Over My Head, Scream and album track Point Blank. PLUS exclusive performance of No Surrender with actress Carice van Houten and Opposites/Big2 remix of No Surrender.

 

Can't wait to hear this and congratulations on No Surrender going Platinum!

 

 

23/08/10 - Kersouwe Concert - Awesome!'

 

Again I found myself back in Netherlands on the weekend to witness another amazing show from our favourite Dutch band. I have to say, the setting was enchanting, the sound was perfect, setlist was spot on and the performance out of this world. This show is definitely up there in my top favourites. My full review of the show can be found here and a small selction of pictures here. Some pictures are credited to Karin.

 

The guys are now in Ibiza doing what they do best, writing more music!

 

 

 

20/07/10 - 4th single from 'No Surrender' announced and there's more!

 

The 4th single to be released from 'No Surrender' will be 'SCREAM'. The news of this single release came with an exciting announcment for a competition where the main prize will be Kane playing in your lounge! People outside of Holland and Belgium don't get to excited as you can't win this main prize but you can win something.

 

To enter the competition you have to submit a video that you've made to go with the single release of 'Scream'. So get your thinking caps on and see what you can come up with, after all you could always temporary move to Holland to claim your prize ;) Closing date for this is 20th August 2010. 19/06/10 - The day after 'Back to Java'

 

Hard to believe this time yesterday I was enjoying the company of Kane on Java Eiland and now I'm home reliving the memories. It was a fantastic show with a setlist of 22 songs opening with Heartbeat. There was a mixture of songs and as always so much energy and effort put into the performance. My review of the show can be found here and pictures here.

15/04/10 - Best Single and Best Band at the 3FM Awards

 

Kane was nominated for 6 3FM awards which set a record being the first artist to be nominationed for so many awards and tonight they proved they are the best band in Holland by winning 2 of them awards for Best Single 'No Surrender' and BEST BAND; Best Band beinng the ultimate award to win.

 

Congratulations to Kane, well deserverd although we already knew they were the best band hey! Hope the partying goes well into the early hours to celebrate.

07/04/10 - 6 Years online today for Kane Rocks!

 

Today marks another anniversary for Kane Rocks. It was 6 years ago today that I put together my first ever website and launched it into the cyberworld. It was a step that made a huge impact on my life and one that I still enjoy and get great pleasure from. Not sure my web skills have improved since then but I'm still learning!!! Kane are a band for the fans and regardless whether they will return to UK or not to perform/release their music, we can still dream and I will continue to keep trying!

 

Thanks to everyone that still visit and support Kane Rocks, it is greatly appreciated. Why don't you drop by the guestbook and say hello whilst you are here? Let's get a party started :)

 

I've decided not to create a new layout this year to celebrate as the saying goes 'Don't fix what ain't broke'. But as you can see the colours have changed, missing reviews are online and some minor changes have been made. I hope you like!

04/04/10 - The Last Mohican R.I.P. - New blog from Dinand - Updated translation

 

Dinand has wrote a new blog on Hyves regarding the ending of singles in Netherlands:

 

And that's how it happened, it was that simple. The official death of `the single' was coming for a long time. The only question was how long it was going to take. But they are in fact separate issues. Singles have been widely sold around the world since the rock'n roll era of the late 50s. Let's take Bill Haley as a starting point in 1956. Vinyl, cassettes and cd…The singles survived all the new technological storms, but the last digital tsunami concerning the internet and digital downloads was what really did it. For us at home, the last survivor of this way of life is an old jukebox from 1956…

 

Last week ‘Free Record' announced they are to end the sale of singles in their shops. A number of months before that they had already decided to sell only three of the top 100 singles in the singles chart. Now ‘Free Record', who always had the major singles market share, holds the singles market in their hands. The decision ultimately signifies the end of ‘the single' in the Netherlands .

 

That leaves only the inferior ‘download single'. I say inferior because we always found it great to bring out singles that were ‘physical' i.e. a single that you could hold. A single that sounds as it did when the artist in the studio made it. A single where you can really examine the artwork instead of having to strain to see an ITunes cover the size of a postage stamp. And then of course you have the issue of ‘legal downloads'…

 

It appears that we have brought out our last physical single with `Love Over Healing'. 1000 copies; that was it. In fact we knew it already. So Dennis and I have signed 1000 singles. A type of last ritual for something that has kept us so busy over the years. From ‘Where do I go now?' to `Love Over Healing' in 11 years. In our case we've had quite a lot of success from singles, but actually the end of the singles was already there when we started.

 

You hear it often and definitely in pop & rock music that ‘everything has already been done'. This is true with singles. They lost their last magic in 2010. Except in our kitchen at home. There is a shiny Wurlitzer jukebox from 1956 that looks as good as new, and each vinyl singles which spins with 45 rpm.

 

Call me old fashioned, call me ‘like to live in the week before last', but not everything about broadband-2010 is an improvement. Certainly not for recording artists. It remains noticeably quiet in the music industry. Of course you can't say that things were better or sounded better in the days of political correctness, especially against the word ‘musicbizznizz'. Freedom, happiness right? Illegal, legal, who cares? Long live the digital revolution!

 

But luckily it's all getter faster…

30/03/10 - Acoustic Theatre Tour Announced for October 2010

 

To continue with the No Surrender tour, Kane today announced that they will be playing a special acoustic tour around the Theatres in Netherlands. The tour will consist of 19 dates right through the month of October. It sounds to be very cool, exciting and special. The tickets go onsale at 9am UK time Saturday 3rd April.

14/03/10 - Kane win Rembrandt Award

 

Kane have won the prize for best movie track in the Dutch Rembrandt Awards for their song 'Love over Healing'. Congratulations, we all knew it was a winner!

14/03/10 - Kane nominated for 6 3FM Awards!

 

Kane have set a record of being the first artist to have so many nominations in the yearly Dutch radio awards. They have been nominated for 6 catergories: Best Band, Best Singer (Dinand), Best Rock Artist, Best Single (No Surrender), Best Album (No Surrender) and Best Live Act.

22/02/10 - In Over My Head 3rd single to be released!

 

If you was at the show at Paradiso then you will already know that Dinand announced that the 3rd single to be released from 'No Surrender' is 'In Over My Head'. No date as yet but I will let you know where you can purchase to get the single shipped once I have the info.

 

 

22/02/10 - No Surrender tour is well in swing!

 

The No Surrender tour kicked off on Thursday and already there are some amazing pictures to be seen and videos to watch. Some sites to watch out for over the next few weeks are KaneJunkies and Addicted2Kane. You can also catch up with blogs and stuff from Kane themselves on the Kane Hyves profile. UK Fan Reunion

Due to the success of the UK reunion back in November last year and by demands of when's the next one?! I am looking to organise another event in April. Again it will be London and may very well be in the same place but watch this space soon for more information and what the night will hold.

 

Sky Radio secret showcase

Sunday Kane played a secret showcase at Sky radio where people had to win to attend so it was a very special occassion. With thanks to some of the people that went who again has filmed some of the songs to share with those that didn't go we can get the feel of how special and amazing this performance was. Breda

Kane have been announced to play at another festival in Holland this time in Breda. This event will take place 10th July and more information about the festival and tickets can be found on the festival website.

 

Kane & Bon Jovi on Royal Beach

Still no news on whether Bon Jovi will play at Scheveningen and when the tickets will go onsale. As soon as I hear anything I will let you know but for now it all seems very quiet on the announcing side of things so hopefully no news is good news!

 

No Surrender tour kicks of Thursday

Thursday will see the No Surrender tour kick of. If you haven't got your ticket now then it's to late as the whole tour is sold out. The tour is spread over February & March and will see the guys weave around the country from town to town. But don't worry if you still want to see them there are still a small handful of Java Eiland tickets available but get them quick as they are sure to go soon to.

 

 

 

 

22/01/10 - Kane on the same program as Bon Jovi on a glorious beach!

 

Kane will be joining Bon Jovi along with another Dutch band Di-rect at a concert on Royal, Beach,Scheveningen. The show is set for 5th June starting early afternoon. Tickets are being given away by Bank Giro as a lottery with 100,000 visitors expected to turn up for this amazing line up.

 

Ticket information:

 

Majority of the tickets will be given away by registering with Bank Giro lottery.

 

Some tickets will be available to be purchased with a starting price of € 55 ranging up to € 190. These tickets go on sale 6th February 9am UK time here.

22/01/10 - Kane & Carice van Houten support for Haiti

 

Kane sang 'No Surrender' with Carice van Houten on Dutch TV and the version of the song is available for download here. All proceeds from the download will go to support the people in Haiti. So far 83 million euros have been raised in Holland, with thanks to artists like Kane. If you haven't already done your bit to help support these poor people in the tragic event in Haiti then now is the time you can and you gain a beautiful version of 'No Surrender'.

14/01/10 - Kane return to Java Island - 18th June

 

Kane will be returning to Java Island on Friday 18th June 2010. They last played here in 2004 and I have to say it is still one of my best/favourite shows yet that I've seen Kane perform. The show will start at 8pm and tickets cost 35 euros.

8/01/10 - Happy New Year on behalf of Kane from Dinand!

 

Dinand posted a new blog on Kane's Website early this morning. He is wishing everyone a Happy New Year and lets us in to almost everything that is going on for Kane 2010. There is the release of 'Love Over Healing' today, the No Surrender tour through Holland Feb/March which is almost sold out, some festival dates being worked on and something he can't tell us right now! 22/12/09 - Love Over Healing to be 2nd single from No Surrender

 

8th January will see the release of Kane's 2nd single from the album No Surrender. This song is the song track to a Dutch film called ' Komt Een Vrouw Bij De Dokter'. The video can been seen on Kane's official youtube channel which is of clips of the film with never seen before footage. The B side to the single will be 'No Surrender' live. If you are quick and lucky there will be a limited edition of 1000 singles signed by both Dinand and Dennis available. Nice way to start the New Year.

3/12/09 - Catwalk Criminal now on UK itunes...

 

Fantastic news and yes you are reading right, it is through this video on youtube filmed at Oxford Circus in London that 'Catwalk Criminal' is now available to download in UK from itunes. The video is an ad campaign for a UK designer outlet called BrandAlley and the song is very appropriate for the video.

 

So watch the video on youtube, comment on the song, then head over to itunes and download it. You could even download it as a single album and get 'Killer on the Catwalk' for a few pennies more.

 

This can only lead to good things so head over now and show your support

 

 

 

 

 

28/11/09 - No Surrender & UK album listening party

 

Yesterday saw the official release of 'No Surrender' in NL. Kane have been doing promotion for the album on 3FM radio station in NL all week and you can see some of the news songs performed live on Kane's official youtube channel. Tomorrow they are doing an album signing in Bijenkorf, Amsterdam and a secret gig on 30th November for some very lucky fans who have won via 3FM.

Here in Uk so not to feel so alone and left out some of us got together and with 6 hours or Kane music with the New album having plenty of plays we go to hear and experience the first listen as a group and we all loved the album as I'm sure everyone agrees. 17/11/09 - Tryout at Paard van Troje -15th November 2009

 

I was fortunate enough to be back in Netherlands for the 4th time this year and got to witness the first show of the tryout gigs which Kane performed to give people a taster of some of the new album tracks. First and only listen so far to say I was impressed was an understatement. The new songs they played are very upbeat, full of energy and very much rocking. I'm looking more and more forward to 27th November to hear the whole album.

13/11/09 - The Making of 'No Surrender' free podcast

06/11/09 - 'No Surrender' single out today & tickets onsale tomorrow

 

Today saw the first single to be released from the forth coming album 'No Surrender'. You can purchase it from itunes and all good record stores in NL but for those in UK FreeRecordShop and BOL are your friends for delivery outside of Netherlands.

 

Reminder that tomorrow (7th Nov) the tickets go onsale for the 'No Surrender' tour. 10 o'clock NL is the start of the sale which means 9am for UK people, so make sure you are there ready to go as they are going to be gone quick! You can get them from ticketmaster.

 

 

04/11/09 - 'No Surrender' tour 2010

 

Today the tour in support of the forth coming album 'No Surrender' has been announced. This will range over various dates and cities of the Netherlands in February and March 2010. Check the tour diary for more information on each date. All tickets go onsale 7th November at 10 o'clock.

17/10/09 - UK Album listening party / Fan reunion

 

Kane will be releasing their 5th studio album 'No Surrender' in Holland on 27th November. But people of the UK don't worry along with help from Nadja & Emily together we are going to put on an event to get everyone together so we can all listen to the album the day of release together as well as have some fun.

 

We will be gathering the night of Friday 27th November in central London. The venue and meet up time is almost sorted and the final details of it's where abouts will be confirmed shortly. If you live in or around or just fancy a trip to London for a get together wiith other Kane fans then drop me an email here. That way I can make sure you receive all the details needed for the night.

 

We've already had many people showing an interest which is really great so the night promises to be a fun one although Kane won't be there themselves, we will have Kane's new released album 'No Surrender' to listen to, a Kane triva quiz with Kane goodies as prizes and a damn good night out with other fans alike.

08/10/09 - 2 tryout dates at Paard van Troje, Den Haag

 

As promised by Dinand at the Paradiso gigs, it has been announced that Kane will be playing 2 tryout gigs at the Paard van Troje on 15th & 16th November. Tickets go onsale 10th October from Paard van Troje. These tryouts will give Kane an oportunity to play some of the new songs from the new album 'No Surrender' which is being released in Netherlands 27th November.

 

 

 

07/10/09 - 3 Days in Paradiso or was that Paradise?

 

I've just got back after spending 3 days in Netherlands to see all 3 Kane gigs at the Paradiso, each one got better and each one had something unique. They played all their singles that they've released in the last 10 years from 'Where Do I Go Now' to 'It's London Calling'. It has been an amazing adventure for them and I was glad to have been there to see the shows. Again I've got some fond memories. You can view my pictures here and my review here.

28/09/09 - 'No Surrender' to be released 27th November 2009

 

Fantastic news to brighten up a Monday morning was the announcement on Kane. nl to say that Kane's 5th studio album is going to be released 27th November and will be called 'No Surrender'. No more details have been given as yet but the excitement is already mounting with this much information. Something we do know is who is on the album besides the obvious of Dinand and Dennis and that is Nico Brandsen (keys), Ivo Severijns (bass), Robin Berlijn (guitar) and Joost Kroon (drums). Watch this space for more info as it is announced.

 

 

 

20/09/09 - New blog on Kane.nl from Dinand... It's magical!

 

Dinand has posted a new blog on kane.nl talking about exciting yet busy times ahead. He talks about capturing the magic for the forthcoming album and how there are already an 'x' amount of singles standing out. There are many more things to do but it is all good. Paul Lee R.I.P.

Also just want to mention another UK fan who was very passionate about Kane tragically died in a motorbike accident last week. Paul you will be missed, now who do I talk to about the gigs?! Hope you are at peace. x

 

 

10/09/09 - 2009 and the story continues..

 

Dennis & Dinand have posted the final blog on the reflection of the 10 years since their first single 'Where Do I Go Now'. They have been over whelmed with all the fan contributions with the amazing memories of the timeline for the past 10 years.

 

They then go on to talk about the future and the 5th studio album and how it is progressing and how they feel it is just like that first album where the songs are just flowing and one that will show just how they are feeling right now which is 'good'.

Today is Dinand's birthday and I'm sure if we shout loud enough he will hear our birthday wishes across the pond! Happy Birthday Dinand, hope you have a fantastic and special day spent with lots of fun and laughter.

11/07/09 - Kane flashback moves from 2004 to 2005

 

2004 was a very emotional year for the guys and if you read Dinand's blogs from hyves you will know how emotional it was for them. But now the time has come for 2005 and Fearless. 2004 was the year where most of us in UK discovered Kane and for some they did make the journey to Holland in 2005 to see them, myself included so again 2005 was an amazing year for me with Kane memories and I hope that some of you will join in and share yours.

 

 

 

29/06/09 - Kane timeline the year is now 2004

 

It has come to the time where Kane graced our shores with their vibrant, addictive, emotional and uniqueness sound. Yes this is the year where us UK fans can reflect back on and sigh as we all know just one ax solo from Dennis, those few emotional notes from Dinand and thumping drumming from Martijn not forgetting that cheeky grin from Dion was enough to hook us and yearning for more. Dinand has posted part 1 of his blog to reflect 2004 and what it meant to him although for him the year didn't start of so good.

25/06/09 - Fansite concert in Le Vagabond, Rotterdam

 

Last night there was a special concert held in Le Vagabond in Rotterdam for the fansite webmasters. I was very lucky to find the email inviting me to attend in my email box just a few days after the Ado stadium gig, so to contemplate going back to Holland so soon didn't register!

 

I flew over the day before the event to meet up with some friends and so the whole visit was just one big megga party. BUT seeing Kane in a small bar with no more than 60 people was something that was a thing of the past for Kane in Holland and so it was such a huge privilidge to have been there. The show was semi acoustic and absolutely fantastic although it was very hot and sweaty it didn't stop the atmosphere and the party going on.

21/06/09 - 10 years of Kane 2003.

 

And so we reach 2003 with the 10 year timeline of Kane. Dennis has taken his turn again to reflect on this and again you can head over to Kane's hyves profile to read blogs and fans input of their 2003 memories and Kane.

 

For UK fans don't be afraid to join up to Hyves if you want to input on any of these years especially with 2004 approaching the year that Kane came to UK. 10/06/09 - 10 years of Kane 2002.

 

The trip continues down the timeline and now we are on 2002. This was they year where 'Rain down on me' made its first debute a song that we in UK are very aware of 2 years later. 07/06/09 - Ado Stadium Concert.

 

I was fortunate to attend the concert last night which I have to say was outstanding. First time seeing Kane live in Holland for 4 years and there was no disappointment at all. They really are amazing showmen and know how to feed their audience. I will be adding pictures and a review of the concert later today. But for now, if you haven't already I would consider a trip to Holland to catch Kane at one their festival dates or Paradiso because they certainly are putting on a show that will be talked about in many years to come. It was nice to see other people from UK there too; Paul I hope you enjoyed your first Kane concert.
