27th November 2009 - The Old Crown, London - UK Album Listening Party
Not sure why one of these nights was never organised before but the idea came after the 3rd night at Paradiso when 2 girls whom are partially Dutch now living in London approached me with the idea.
So the seed was planted and I sent out the idea to see what the reaction would be. I was pleased there was quite a lot of interest shown and so the ball got rolling. It was August 2004 that UK last saw and heard Kane and 5 years is a very long gap in the music industry and so I thought most people would have forgotten all about them. This maybe the case for some but not for all thankfully.
I managed to find a really nice venue in London (which was free!) and so the date was set as the same day as the release of 'No Surrender' in Netherlands so that we could all hear it the same day as everyone else knowing it would be a few days for the album to be shipped.
The evening was planned with a 6 hour playlist of only Kane songs with the album being played 3 times from start to finish at different points of the night so people could come and go as much as they wanted.
The 1st set of people arrived at about 7pm to the tune of 'Can you handle me'. People turned up that hadn't heard Kane since 2004, there was those that kept up as best they could and then there was the new fans to Kane all together, now they were the amusing ones who couldn't wait to get home to get more songs from itunes and so from their iphones just got right in there whilst partying!
All in all we expected about 40 people at the short notice but it was a time when a very nasty bug was flying around the place but still 26 people in total had a fab time. It was great to see all the reactions to the new album as well as to other albums that they hadn't heard. 'No Surrender' though was a huge favourite along with some tracks from'Fearless'.
Much drinking was done, much eating was done, very much chatting was done but most importantly a lot of listening was done and people already was suggesting another reunion in the New Year.
Success! We shall return again in 2010 so if you missed this one, you definitely won't want to miss the next as it promises to be so much bigger!
Thanks to everyone for turning up and having a good time and thanks to the people that helped make it possible and supported the event.
